LET’S NOT BURN OUT PEOPLE
OR NATURE WITH GREED
AND INDIFFERENCE

The rise in mental health problems is one of our greatest challenges, both humanly and economically. A key cause is a performance-driven society, reflected in an increasingly demanding work environment and education system. In this election, we have the chance to create an alternative to the culture of burnout. That’s why solving the mental health crisis requires comprehensive psychological expertise.

Mental health is shaped by daily life in municipalities and supported through wellbeing services counties, from urban planning to service development. Locally, we can drive change and prove that there is a demand for science-based and compassionate policymaking.

My election promises:

  • I promise to bring psychological expertise to both the county and municipal councils. It is needed because all politics is mental health politics.

  • I promise to promote humanity and evidence-based decision-making in all areas of policymaking.

  • I promise to engage in open and respectful discussions, make an effort to understand and listen to different viewpoints, and acknowledge when I am wrong.

MENTAL HEALTH IS BUILT IN THE EVERYDAY LIFE OF MUNICIPALITIES AND REPAIRED THROUGH THE SERVICES OF THE WELLBEING REGION: THAT’S WHY BOTH NEED EXPERTISE IN PSYCHOLOGY.

LET'S SAVE HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES – EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO RECEIVE HELP

As the vice chair of our group in the county council, I have actively brought forward the perspective of mental health. I have made initiatives on topics such as suicide prevention shelters, flexible working hours for those with partial work capacity, prevention of domestic violence, psychologist and social worker services, supporting solopreneurship, and preventing drug-related deaths.

This is how I would improve health and social services in Pirkanmaa:

  • Mental health is the foundation of well-being. Let’s address the long waiting times for psychiatry, the longest in the country, and ensure that mental health is also considered in the treatment of physical health.

  • Equal access to healthcare for all. Well-being should not depend on income, location, or background. Everyone should receive the same high-quality care – whether you are a student, unemployed, living in the countryside or the city, a retiree, or a young school-aged child.

  • The well-being of residents starts with the well-being of workers. Employees must be invested in, and steps must be taken to prevent burnout. We should give employees more influence, improve flexibility, and promote better leadership.

  • Small businesses and organizations should be more strongly involved. The dominance of healthcare giants should be broken, and smaller providers supported.

LET’S HOLD ON TO THE NORDIC WELFARE STATE THAT PAST GENERATIONS BUILT FOR US. EVERYONE MUST RECEIVE HELP, REGARDLESS OF WEALTH OR BACKGROUND.

WELLNESS OF THE MIND IN TAMPERE –
A VIBRANT CITY,
A MORE VIBRANT PERSON

I love Tampere. Our green, vibrant, community-oriented home between two lakes, the world’s sauna capital, where culture thrives and a forest is always just a stone’s throw away. Good mental health is nurtured in a city where we care for each other, where everyone’s dignity is respected, and where everyone feels they belong, regardless of their background.

This is how I would promote well-being in Tampere:

  • A community-oriented cultural city. Cultural history must be preserved, and investments made in the arts to create a vibrant and inclusive city where no one is left behind.

  • Children, youth, and schools. Inequality in schools must be stopped. No young person should be left behind; everyone should be included.

  • Work and entrepreneurship that support well-being. Everyone deserves a place in the workforce where burnout is not a risk, regardless of whether they have full or partial work capacity. Investment should be made in entrepreneurship to create new, enriching experiences in Tampere.

  • A green, vibrant Tampere. Environmental psychology should guide urban planning, local nature should be protected, and the climate crisis actively addressed.

TAMPERE IS HOME TO ALL OF US. A VIBRANT CITY CREATES JOY, SAFETY, AND COMMUNITY – AND IT’S ALSO PART OF THE SOLUTION TO THE MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS.
